WHAT WE KNOW AND WHAT WE DON’T ABOUT PCV3
Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) was first identified in the US in 2016. It has been linked to multiple syndromes across different ages of pigs ranging from post-weaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS), pneumonia and diarrhea, reproductive failure such as abortions and stillborn piglets as well as porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome (PDNS)1, all of which are syndromes we also see with PCV2 (porcine circovirus type 2).
